Fairness and Diversity Policy

The Fairness and Diversity Policy is the University's overarching equality policy. It sets out our commitment to equality, the legal responsibilities of the University and its members and information on how to complain to the University if you feel you have been unfairly treated. Please note that the Policy is currently pending  review in light of the Equality Act and the University's new Equality Scheme, below.

University Equality Scheme 2011-2015 and equality objectives

The University's Equality Scheme sets out the University's equality objectives and the actions we will take to achieve them. The Scheme supports the promotion of equality, elimination of discrimination and fostering of good relations between different groups of people across all of our activities and in relation to the protected characteristics of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Equality Data

Under the Equality Act 2010, the University must publish information on an annual basis demonstrating how it is complying with the Equality Duty, and make this information publicly available. The 2012 Publication of Equality Information report sets out data and information in relation to students and staff and the protected characteristics of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Harassment and Bullying Policy

The Harassment and Bullying Policy outlines the University's position on unacceptable behaviour, the actions it will take to address such behaviour and the process for students and staff wishing to make a complaint. It also provides information on support services for students and staff, including the Harassment Advisers' Service.
